Participation in the Expo has increased from 70 exhibitors and 500 attendees to over 1,000 attendees and more than 100 exhibitors. This year’s expo is positioned to provide critical business development information and resources for regional businesses in one place at one time. Engagement with more than 125 Exhibitors, more than 1,000 attendees and various educational workshops and panels make it possible to connect minority-owned businesses with potential clients and organizations that support their growth. According to a study by the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the nearly 4.4 million Latino-owned businesses in the United States contribute more than $700 billion to the US economy. In addition, the average annual revenue of Latino- owned business jumped an impressive 26.5% during the past 12 months, to $327,189, according to Biz2Credit data. The 2018 Small Business Profile of the U.S. Small Business Administration Office of Advocacy shows that in the DC region small businesses employed 243,121 people, or 47.4% of the private workforce, in 2015. Moreover, in the same year they created 8,375 net jobs. (Source: SUSB) To that end, the Chamber’s mission continues to be the connection of Hispanic and non-Hispanic owned businesses of all sizes and find opportunities for collaboration; a lot of this takes place at the expo. “This is a very exciting year for the Chamber. We are thrilled for all the great things happening during our Annual Business Expo program. The GWHCC mission continues to be the empowerment of these minority owned businesses, its owners and employees. We will continue to provide and expand the necessary tools and guidance to ensure their success,” said Nicole Quiroga, President and CEO of the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. This year, the workshops will feature prominent names in our region such as the Small Business Administration, Verizon, Pepco Holdings, Events DC, NBC4 | Telemundo44, among others. The GWHCC is also excited to announce that for a second year in a row it will host a Pitch Your Biz Competition. This year the winner's will receive CASH prizes valued at $500, $400 and $300. Moreover, this year’s Executive Luncheon will feature Mr. Gibson Sylvestre, CEO of Triumvirate Holdings, LTD. Mr. Sylvestre has been featured on Ted talk, Forbes, PRNEWSWIRE and more.
