Washington Convention Center in DC to celebrate its relationships with the embassies in DC of different countries, and highlight the bilateral alliances that throughout the Hispanic-owned businesses in the area have been strengthening for some time. At the event, according to its organizers, 24 embassies were represented, so it was an excellent opportunity to expand contacts and relationships with attendees from different local governments and companies in the area, as well as the administrations of other countries. The gala also had the special participation of the Dominican Republic ambassador, Sonia Guzmán, named honorary Chair, and Marisa Lago, Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade, International Trade Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce. Events DC, PEPCO Holdings, CareFirst, Mayor's Office on Latino Affairs (MOLA), Employ Prince George's, Toyota, DC Mayor's Office, Giant, DMPED, Kaiser Permanente, Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, among others, joined the group of sponsors. Nicole Quiroga, president and CEO of the GWHCC, announced during the event's closing remarks that a new initiative titled the "Global Leadership Business Luncheon" would launch this year and that a trade mission to either Honduras or Colombia was in the works.
