The GWHCC team is deeply saddened by the passing of GWHCC member Hugo Medrano, founder of the iconic GALA Hispanic Theatre in Washington, D.C. Since 1976, Hugo, wife Rebecca, and their team have highlighted the Latino culture through the arts. "Hugo was a true visionary - a wonderfully creative and talented artist who will forever impact our region," said Nicole Quiroga, President and CEO of the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. By developing and producing works that explore the breadth of Latino performing arts, GALA provides opportunities for the Latino artist, educates youth, and engages the entire community in an exchange of ideas and perspectives.
