FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Wednesday, July 20, 2022 PRESS CONTACT Idaliz Ortiz Morales iortizmorales@gwhcc.org GWHCC’s Board of Directors Chairman’s Term Extended for One Year The July 19, 2022 Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GWHCC) Board meeting resulted in the extension of Chairman Juan Jara’s term by a vote during an Executive Session. With a majority vote, the Board of Directors extended the current term of Chairman Jara, Senior Vice President and Market Manager for City National Bank for one more year. His term was due to expire at the end of July. Mr. Jara’s leadership, which began in July 2019, was crucial during FY 2020 and 2021 due to the uncertainty around the COVID-19 pandemic and the future state of the economy. Knowing his ability to navigate the Chamber through challenging times, the Board, under the Chairman’s guidance, will focus on strengthening and revitalizing Chamber members and positively influencing the economic recovery of small businesses in the DC Metropolitan Region. “I am truly honored to have earned the confidence, and support of my fellow Board members to extend the term of my Chairmanship. These past couple of years have been a challenge for everyone, and we managed to stay ahead while maintaining a focus on our mission: To move businesses forward.” Said Juan Jara, Chairman for the GWHCC Board of Directors. “I am excited and very optimistic about the year ahead and the future of Hispanic businesses in Greater Washington. We have the right strategy, tools, and more importantly, the people that will ensure we continue to support our members thrive in Greater Washington.” The GWHCC’s Board of Directors is the organizations’ governing body. The Board of Directors consists of 18 voting board members, including a 5-member Executive Committee, representing the region’s diverse populations, geographies, and industries.
