MEDIA ADVISORY DC Health Link to Go Big (and Virtual) to Kick Off Open Enrollment DC Health Link pivots amid the COVID-19 pandemic while maintaining an aggressive outreach strategy including a virtual kick-off with District leaders and celebrities plus an “Enroll-a-Thon” Nov. 7 to launch Open Enrollment WHAT: The COVID-19 pandemic has shown that access to quality health insurance has never been more urgent. And to show that its commitment to ensure all District residents have access to coverage has never been stronger, DC Health Link will hold its annual kick off Open Enrollment event on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 11:00 am. The virtual enrollment event—themed “Get Covered, Stay Covered: The Time to Enroll is NOW!”—brings together local leaders, leading healthcare advocates, celebrities, radio personalities and entertainers to promote healthy living and the value of health insurance for District residents. To show their strong support for the Affordable Care Act and DC Health Link’s efforts which have contributed to the lowest uninsured rate in city history, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton and other District leaders will make appearances and deliver messages in this pre-recorded virtual program to help launch Open Enrollment. Following the event, DC Health Link will kick off a 90-minute “Enroll-a-Thon” in which District residents will have the opportunity to call DC Health Link’s Contact Center to sign up for health coverage. As in previous years, DC Health Link, which has cut the District’s uninsured rate in half since opening for business in 2013, is holding this enrollment opportunity to help District residents learn about and conveniently shop, compare and enroll in quality health insurance plans that best meet their needs and budgets. This year’s program will also feature performances by dance troupe Step Afrika! and national recording artist, saxophonist Brian Lenair, plus appearances by on-air radio personalities, cooking demonstrations, exercise instruction, and MUCH MORE. Eligible residents who enroll on or before December 15, 2020 will have their coverage effective January 1, 2021.
